A Moment of Silence.

Watercolor ; image size 15”h x 14” w.

There is a moment directly before a meal when we sit in silence in our family. I hoped this painting would speak to this. It suggests an event about to happen. It suggests anticipation, waiting and peace.

Wooden Bowls 5

Watercolor 6 1/2" x 21" on Arches 300lb cold press.

This is the last in the series of wooden bowls, or at least for now (I may paint some more bowls later). Here I wanted to try something comletely different. I printed wet painted paper onto wet paper, collaged using my sewing machine and then painted on top of all of that. I was after a totally abstracted image, yet related to the series. All in effort to try something new. I worked in lighter washes and glazes.

Wooden Bowls 4

I simply want to play more with the paint and the subject. Seeing it from different perspectives. Seeing it close. The white bowl is meant to contrast with the wooden bowls to its right.

Same theme, only I am asking the question, can simplicity been seen through vibrant color?

Wooden Bowls 1

Watercolor painting 6 1/2" x 21" on Arches 300lb paper.

I am interested in expressing simplicity. Simplicity as it relates to life and living simply. By using antique objects I am suggesting a connection with our past. The past can, in a sense, influence the here and now.
