"watercolor figure painting: Walking in New York"

I have not been posting everyday. I have been working everyday, but instead of small works, my focus has been on my larger paintings. This one is the first larger painting I have done in a while. It is similiar to one of my earlier posts, only much larger. I did not mask this one - worked it right up to the beautiful deckled edge.

watercolor figure: Nancy James.

Okay. I added more and played into the painting with the ink again. wish for comments sometimes. It is sometimes hard to work in a void. Oh well, back to the studio for more painting.

"watercolor figure painting: In Meeting"

7" x 7" watercolor painting on 300lb Arches cold press paper

I am not sure I am done with this one. What do you think? I am thinking I could use some darker definition. The background feels light and its okay, but perhaps against the dark wood floor the light is too light. I am happy with the figure though. She is quiet and still the way I have been working to have her. I have painted this several times now, although each time I leave more and more out of the painting, trying to simplify. I will work up the next one as a larger painting.

"Watercolor Figure Painting: Tutoring at Meeting"

5" x 7" watercolor and ink on Strathmore 140 lb cold press paper.

I have been happy getting back to figures. This is a sketch for a larger painting. I actually want this to be part of yet another series of work. Pulling from the "quiet" place theme, I am into working up paintings that speak to the listening we need to do more of in our lives, or at least I do. The series will be mostly about Quaker Meeting, listening place, people in conversation - listening to each other.

Watercolor Painting Still Life; Meeting Coats # 6.

I have been working on larger paintings in this series. It presents a whole new dynamic painting larger. I actually have two paintings going at the same time when I am doing this to allow for drying time in between the washes.

Working larger takes longer. So, daily paintings have turned into a couple a week.
