Moving away from what is literal is a hard transition to make when one has only ever thought about how to be specific. Here, I am not trying to be specific at all, rather, to allow the colors and the landscape forms to blend as one.

Landscape Meditation.
5" x 8" watercolor in Moleskin sketchbook.

For me, the trees seems to emerge from the abstract nature of the background. This is a quality I am now following in my work. This is becoming a series of paintings that may turn into a small published book. Certainly they are driving the weaving pieces I am doing (I am also a weaver of large scale wall hangings that are hand painted).  More to come!
